Companies with mature IT governance initiatives focus more on agility and supporting business initiatives than their lower maturity peers. Lower maturity organizations focus governance efforts more on cost and risk reduction, compliance, and security. High maturity organizations differentiate themselves with higher performance in four key areas of business value. Based on analysis of governance practices and performance at 389 companies, we developed a model that can help optimize performance for IT organizations at three levels of maturity.
