The use of server virtualization has moved beyond test and development. 72% of 323 recent ITPI research study participants are aggressively virtualizing production servers. However, of those organizations, 58% had at one point paused adoption to review and implement procedures and controls designed to increase comfort level with virtualization technology in the production environment. This executive summary outlines study findings and highlights key controls that are commonly adopted with server consolidation and higher maturity use cases.
